Writers SuperCenter now also handles the Business Software Store of the Hampton Roads Times, the online magazine that serves one of the largest metropolitan regions in the country.
Hampton Roads is also where our headquarters are located, in Norfolk, Virginia, the center of the Hampton Roads region. Norfolk is most known for its Naval presence, especially the Norfolk Naval Base, or Norfolk Naval Air Station, as well as being home to the largest coal facilities in the world, owned by Norfolk Southern Railroad, formerly Norfolk and Western, at Lambert's Point.
Hampton Roads itself takes in all of Southeastern Virginia (including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton, and a number of counties), which also includes such famed areas as Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown.
The region takes its name from the body of water (Hampton Roads) at its center. This body of water, surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay, James River, Elizabeth River, and Nansemond River, form one of the greatest harbors in the world, made famous by the Civil War "Battle of Hampton Roads" — the first battle of ironclad vessels — fought between the U.S.S. Monitor and C.S.S. Virginia (formerly U.S.S. Merrimac[k]).
If you're interested in Hampton Roads history, or Hampton Roads business, you'll be amazed by the Hampton Roads Times.
